Notes on exchanging the DDE 2.2 control unit and distributor-type injection pump

The following notes must be observed when replacing the DDE control unit or the distributor-type injection pump.

General

Make sure that the fault really is attributed to a defective control unit or a defective injection pump.

Replacement of components which are not the cause of the complaint results in unnecessary warranty costs and can also be the cause of customer dissatisfaction.

Work through all stored defect codes before replacing the control unit or injection pump. First read out the fault code memories in the transmission control unit and ASC control unit and examine the stored faults.

Only replace component when a corresponding instruction is shown on the display screen or when the fault reoccurs after thorough troubleshooting and after deleting the fault code memory.

Before replacing the component, print out "Test code" and attach to warranty application.

Replacing the DDE control unit

Proceed as follows to replace the control unit:

The calibration and correction values cannot be transferred if it is no longer possible to establish a diagnostic link with the old control unit.

In this case, the calibration and correction values can be changed in the diagnostic program under "Service functions".

Replacing the distributor-type injection pump

The ignition lock must be switched to 0 position before replacing the injection pump.

Remove and install as described in the repair instructions.

After installing the new pump, reset the values "Pair engine control unit" with the diagnostic program (service functions).
