Telephone (mobile/cellular) Phase IV, Phase IV Plus, Phase V

Depending on the specific network, the telephone consists of the followind components: keypad handset , eject box orinterface , transceiver (transceiver/mobile phone), electronic charging system with hands-free facility and aerial (mobile phone with booster ).

In addition to operation using the handset it is also possible to use the telephone from the multifunction steering wheel and from the MID/on-board monitor . In this case, the telephone is connected via the eject box or interface with the I/K-bus and transfers telephone key operation via this data link to the MID, on-board monitor and multifunciton steering wheel .

It also offers a hands-free function which enables the driver to use the telephone without having to hold the handset. This function additionally requires amicrophone and special speaker . If installed, a DSP amplifier controls the speaker output.

If activated, the button beep tone is output via the speakers of the hands-free facility.

The radio is muted during a telephone conversation in order to improve voice audibiltiy in the vehicle. This function is referred to as radiu muting .

Telephone operation is only possible with the SIM card inserted (does not apply to AMPS network). The call number, under which the owner can be called is stored on this card. No call number is allocated to the telephone itself. Other mobile telephones can also be used with the SIM card and corresponding call number.

Depending on the card provider(not applicable to AMPS network) various additional functions are possible which are also described in the operating instruction. If problems arise, contact the card operator.

Eject Box or Interface

The telephone is connected to the I/K-bus via the eject box/interface and enables additional convenient functions such as operation via MID/on-board monitor and multifunction steering wheel.

Card Reader

Depending on the type of GSM network (mobile/cellular) installed in the vehicle the card reader is located in the eject box or mobile phone .

No card reader is installed for the AMPS network telephone.
