On-board monitor

The video module is a component part of a comprehensive information system with a central control (on-board monitor control panel) and display unit (LC monitor).

The functional components of the video module are:

Connection facilities are additionally provided for an additional TV monitor and a video recorder. The video module is controlled via the I-bus.

The on-board monitor system is controlled via the on-board monitor control panel.

TV mode

Note

For safety reasons, TV and video operation is only possible while driving via a monitor additionally connected in the rear compartment.

Program:

After activating the program function, the programs 01 to 30 can be selected by turning to the left or right.

A program scan is activated by keeping the control button depressed. The programs with the strongest reception are briefly shown from the memory in ascending program order. The button must be pressed again in order to carry on viewing a program.

Search function:

The station search function is triggered by turning the button to the left or right. During the search run, the indicated channel changes from green to yellow. The search direction can be changed by quickly turning the button in the other direction. Once a program has been found it can be stored by pressing the station button.

The sound is muted when the screen is overlaid with the MUTE message because of poor reception of the selected program.

Autostore

10 stations with good reception are stored automatically in the memory slots 21 to 30. In memory slots are still free, stations with weaker reception are stored during the second search run.

Settings

In this function, the basic settings such as contrast, brightness and colour can be varied and country-specific TV standards can be set.

An additional setting where the colour tone can also be varied appears for countries with NTSC standard.

Video text

The prerequisite for video text reception is that video text is possible in the set country and in the set station.

Video text is overlaid on the TV screen when the video text function is activated.

A menu list appears on the monitor after video text selection:

Aerial diversity

aerial diversity consists of 2 aerials which are integrated in the rear windows. An own, external amplifier is installed for each of the two aerials. The aerial amplifiers are powered by the video module via the core of the aerial cable.

Both aerials are connected to the video module where the diversity function is also integrated.

Audio signals

The audio signals: Video recorder, TV and navigation system can be applied at the input of the video module.

The inputs of the above-specified audio signals can be optionally switched through to the output which leads to the radio by selecting the relevant function.

Only the video recorder and TV signals are switched through to the output for a separate monitor (rear compartment monitor).

The inputs and outputs of the audio signals are all in mono.

Video recorder

A commercially available video recorder can be connected in the vehicle. By way of the signal selection function at the video input during video recorder playback, the rear compartment monitor is switched over from TV mode to video mode without the need for further operation. Brightness and contrast are set directly on the rear compartment monitor.

Video recorder playback on the on-board monitor is only possible after previous selection in TV mode (between program 30 and 1). The sound of the video recorder is then additionally switched via the on-board speakers.

Overtemperature indication

If overtemperature occurs in the video module or in the on-board monitor, the video text decoder produces a frame which indicates immanent shut-down. The picture stops until the information no longer applies and can be overwritten by the graphic stage as required. It must then be redisplayed.

The display is deactivated by switching off the monitor.
